Up to 40% off retail, the Tarkett Johnsonite Hammered Brown Stair Tread 60 inch Square Nose offers a durable rubber solution designed for consistent traction and longevity. Right out of the box, this tread communicates a no-nonsense approach to stair safety-there's a sense of weight to the rubber, and a crispness in the hammered finish that feels engineered for daily foot traffic. The surface itself has a finely textured pattern-not smooth, not glossy, but exactly the kind of high-traction finish you expect in commercial buildings, schools, or healthcare environments where every step counts. The coverage here-a full 60 inches in length and a wide 12.5 inches across-is sized to fit most standard stairs with minimal trimming, and it's the kind of spec that makes life easier for installers managing large renovation projects.

The square nose profile catches attention if you're used to the more rounded fronts found on residential products. There's a deliberate sharpness here: not uncomfortable by any stretch, but precise. The squared-off edge fits flush against risers, offering both a visual boundary and a bit of extra stability compared to older curved designs. This choice isn't just aesthetic-it means compliance with newer codes, cleaner lines in built environments, and fewer trip points for the long term. Installation is straightforward, though adhesives are not included. That gives you control to match the right bonding agent to your subfloor type, which will matter for some specifications. The tread accepts most commercial-grade adhesives, so there's real flexibility here for everything from steel-backed stairs in hospitals to concrete in public transport centers.

Colorwise, the Hammered Brown is a practical decision. It lands between chocolate and mahogany-not too dark to show every speck of dust but rich enough to mask minor scuff marks. This tone sits quietly in the environment, designed to support rather than distract. Combined with the hammered surface, you get an understated, rugged appearance that interacts well with both industrial and corporate surroundings. The finish feels intentionally matte, almost absorbing ambient light rather than bouncing glare upwards, which can be a small but important factor in well-lit interiors.

Every so often, the difference is in what you don't see. The 100% rubber material is why you'll notice so little compression underfoot-it bounces back after heavy use, holds up under the drag of rolling cases, even resists nicks from work boots. The Angle Fit model ensures that the edge pairing remains consistent from tread to tread, streamlining the look over entire flights of stairs. It's a detail you only notice once the job is complete-each riser lining up perfectly, every profile matching across multiple landings.

With five years of warranty coverage, Tarkett Johnsonite is standing behind commercial performance. That's not a lifetime warranty, but in high-turnover spaces, five years is often the mark of expectation for flooring and stair safety products. And because this tread is made in the United States, the supply chain stays tighter-lead times for large orders are generally faster, and you avoid the question marks that sometimes come with overseas sourcing.
